Practical Information

Membership of ATZW 

To take part in the monastery's activities, you need to be a member of the Weiterswiller Zen Temple Association. The annual membership fee is €15.

TO BRING

  • For meditation (zazen): kimono OR comfortable, dark clothing for practice. If you have a zafu (black or brown meditation cushion), you can bring it. 
  • For meals: bowl + spoon + fork or chopsticks + a large dark napkin to wrap the bowl + a small white handkerchief-type napkin.
  • For the beds: single duvet cover + single fitted sheet + pillowcase - Sleeping bags not allowed. 
  • For everyday use: shoes and work clothes, sandals or flip-flops (to be removed easily), slippers for indoors 
  • Possibility to borrow some items on site. 
  • Biodegradable hygiene products. 
  • Some items are for sale at the temple store. 

IMPORTANT: mobile phones must be switched off inside the monastery in order to maintain a peaceful atmosphere. However, it is possible to make calls in the car parks.

BY TRAIN

If you arrive at Ingwiller station, a shuttle bus will pick you up. Please let the secretary's office know: info@meditation-zen.org

BY CAR (arriving from Strasbourg)

When you enter Weiterswiller, follow the main street. After the restaurant "les trois roses" take the first street on the left (rue des roses). The temple is 500 m further on your left (the last house).

Carpooling

If you'd like to come to this event, we can organise car pooling to share the cost and reduce your carbon footprint. And all this while sharing a moment of conviviality between retreatants on the way :).

  • If you are already familiar with zazen practice, please feel free to join us.
  • If you would like to learn how to practice zazen.
