Gotan-e Sesshin - Retreat in silence - Avril 18-21

-

A RETREAT IN COMPLETE SILENCE

Gotan-e sesshin is held every year at Ryumonji to celebrate the anniversary of the birth of Shakyamuni Buddha, the historical Buddha. The official date of this festival is April 8.

Every year, we practice a sesshin, a 4-day silent retreat. It is a way to plunge into the heart of zazen, the Zen sôtô meditation through which the Buddha awakened under a tree more than 2600 years ago.

Sesshin takes place in early spring, when nature awakens and offers an example of beautiful, ever-renewed energy.

Master Wang-Genh gives teachings on different themes. There will be opportunities to ask him questions in individual talks - dokusan - or in assembly - mondo. It is also possible to ask him questions by email which he will answer during the mondo.
